May 17 2002 - The AADS NAP maintenance scheduled for this weekend has been postponed. >AADS regretfully has to inform all of our NAP customers that we have to >postpone the software upgrade that was scheduled for this Sunday, May 19, >2002. At this point in time we do not have a rescheduled date. | Tigger Outage Sunday 5/12 | ||

May 13 2002 - 04:00AM Tigger had some serious problems starting early Sunday morning. Many hundreds of critical system files suddenly "disappeared". We still are not sure of the cause - except that it was not hardware failure. We spent most of Sunday restoring files. Things got worse when a restored ethernet driver proved to be corrupted and cut off network access. With help from IBM tigger was back on the network late Sunday night. We are still restoring various and sundry files, but tigger is up and running. If you experience any problems with email, web pages, cgiscripts or any other commands on tigger, please send a detailed email message to systems@uic.edu and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. We sincerely regret any inconveniences caused by this outage. We'll post more details when time permits. |

| Tigger/Ethernet Down | ||

May 12 2002 - Tigger's files were restored successfully from backup. But now the ethernet card fails to operate, so tigger will remain offline until it can be fixed. Any mail destined for tigger will of course be queued, and delivered later. |

| Tigger Up Soon | ||
|
May 12 2002 - Tigger's ethernet problems are fixed, but we've discovered another filesystem that must be restored from backups. This is proceeding apace, and should be done before Sunday midnight. Unless something else untoward crops up, tigger should be available for normal use by then. |

May 12 2002 - Tigger has some severely corrupt and missing files. We are restoring from backups. The process will take much of Sunday morning. Departmental and class web pages remain up. Personal web pages and mail hosted on tigger will be down until tigger is restored. |

| Fwd: AADS NAP maintenance 5-19-2002 | ||

May 08 2002 - AADS is going to install a software patch on the NAP switches on Sunday, May 19th 2002 between the hours of 12:01am through 6:00am. The software is to be loaded onto the three Lucent GX550 switches. The actual outage should be brief but you never know. This will NOT effect UIC to UIUC traffic. Cliff Nelson UIC NetMgr |

May 04 2002 - mailserv will be down for maintenance from 7:00 PM Saturday 5/04 to 2:00 AM Sunday. During the outage, any attempt to access a mailbox on mailserv (e.g. through Eudora) will fail, and mailserv will not accept email As usual, mailbox contents will be preserved and email destined for mailserv will be queued. |
