Preparation for Standardized Exams

Full-Semester Courses

ACE offers a full-semester course to help students prepare for the verbal/reading section of standardized exams. Separate, targeted sections of ASP 091 are offered for pre-law, pre-health, and humanities students.

The course includes the following components:

  • Challenging readings related to the professional field (law, medicine, or social sciences & humanities)
  • Vocabulary development
  • Practice with reading passages from standardized exams

In addition to ASP 091, ACE also offers an 8-week vocabulary development course: ASP 092

See the UIC Schedule Classes for details.

For questions about the courses, call 413-0032.

Short-Term Preparation Courses

ACE offers short-term preparation courses for the verbal/reading section of standardized exams, and the PCAT course includes math preparation as well. The courses are meant to help students begin their own individualized study program for an exam; they are not meant to provide all of the practice that a student will need. The courses are free, and students who are unable to afford a commercial program are especially encouraged to enroll. Students who register for a course must agree to attend every class. In addition, students are expected to take a pre and post-test, which will be administered during class time.

Registration opens on August 17, 2009, and space is limited. Call 312-413-0031 to register.
