Salesperson Field

Since only 4 people work in the pro shop, we can have the computer look up the values for that field.  The Lookup tab in the Field Properties can let us choose the type of box used.

If we choose either the List Box or Combo Box option, the computer can then prompt us for the table or query where the information is stored.  We'll choose a Combo Box for this example, since users can still type the number themselves.

In order for this to work properly, however, several other items have to be set.   They are listed below.

• ROW SOURCE: lists the table or query where the data is stored
• BOUND COLUMN:  is the column that contains the value to be entered.  In this case it's column 1, the Employee ID Number.
• COLUMN COUNT: allows you to display the number of columns you want when you click the drop-down list.  We need the first name and last name as well, so 3 is the number.
• COLUMN WIDTHS:  will set the width each column takes, in inches.  (0 hides a column)
