Obtaining Adobe Acrobat

Acrobat at UIC

Since early 1999, the full Adobe Acrobat suite 3.01 is available on Server Services, so your department can make this available to you at a nominal cost. The suite is also installed in the ACCC's public computer labs and Multimedia Classrooms. All this makes Acrobat available to pretty much anybody on campus for free. For home use, see the purchasing information below.

Acrobat Distiller via the Web

Acrobat Distiller is now also running on our tigger server. It is used for example to allow students to submit their resume in PDF format to the Office of Career Services. To the UIC community only, we are making available a new service using this installation. You can upload any PostScript file (those are commonly generated by many print drivers, even on CMS) via the web for immediate processing to PDF. It is recommended to do this from campus, as PostScript files are large and can take very long to transfer via a modem.

Adobe Acrobat Purchase Information

Academically priced software is available at the Micro/Station at UIC for faculty, staff and students with valid i-card. The current academic price for Acrobat Suite 4 is $99.95, although you may get a better price at the Urbana general stores (see the ITL's where-to-buy page).
