Netscape Communicator

Netscape Communicator is a suite of Internet programs. The WWW Browser component of Communicator is called "Navigator"

The Navigator Window (click a section to see a description)

• Pull-down menus
  • File Menu Use the file menu to open new windows, print, access Netscape Composer to edit the existing page, and save pages
  • Edit Menu Use the Edit Menu to set preferences and search for items using Netscapes's Search Engine
  • View Menu Use the View Menu to reload the current page, show or hide toolbars, or check the HTML codes for the page.
  • Go Menu Use the Go Menu to move back and forth between pages or access pages recently visited in the History list.
  • Communicator Menu The Communicator Menu lets you go to other parts of the Netscape program, find Net News and an address book. It also gives you access to your bookmarks.
  • Help Menu

    Help Contents (F1) -- opens NetHelp Gives information on different Netscape reference manuals Tutorial and index are also available Product Information and Support -- connects to Netscape website for: Tech Support documents Knowledge Base Frequently Asked Questions Allows a word search for questions on all versions of Netscape Gives closest documents related to search, similar to Find section of Windows 95 help

• Navigation bar
  • Back -- return to previous web page
  • Forward -- go to next web page
  • Reload -- load most recent version of document
  • Home -- return to designated home page (set this in Edit->Preferences)
  • Search -- go to Netscape's search site
  • Guide -- go to Netscape's "Internet Guide" page
  • Print -- print current document
  • Security -- tells you whether or not a page is secured
  • Stop -- interrupts the current transfer

• Location bar -- shows where you are, takes you where you want
• Bookmarks -- add, save or go to bookmarked pages
• Bookmark icon (the little green stub) for making bookmark to current page via drag-and-drop
• Type new URL in location window or use pulldown history menu
