Introduction to Flash

Tools

Flash contains a few tools to help with your Flash movie development:
  • Onion-skinning buttons: This consists of three buttons that help with editing several frames at once.
    • Onion Skin: This displays several frames superimposed in one frame.
    • Onion Skin Outline: This is similar to Onion Skin, but instead the outline of each image is shown.
    • Edit Multiple Frames: This allows you to edit multiple frames at one time.
  • Library: (Window > Library) This contains a list all you symbols, whether they are graphics, buttons, movies, or sounds.
  • Movie player: (Control > Test Movie) This will create a temporary Shockwave file which you can then test. This is very helpful for finding out how the exported Shockwave file will work. While the working with the movie player one can also open up the Bandwidth Profiler (View > Bandwidth Profiler). The Bandwidth Profiler graphically displays the how much data must be sent for each frame in the movie according to the defined modem speed.
