HTML Informational libraries

• Library of Congress HTML Information
  A Web sight full of information, links, and examples of HTML. This is an excellent place to start looking for help.

• Hypertext Markup Specification 4.0
  From the desk of the World Wide Web Consortium. The latest additions to HTML are contained here, along with descriptions and examples of all the standard tags and attributes. This Web sight goes through the technical aspects of new HTML and how it has expanded from previous versions.

• The Virtual Library of WWW Development
  This is like an encyclopedia of web knowledge in one page. Links to editors, HTML information, libraries, and Java can be found here.

• Beginner's Guide to HTML
  This is a very helpful introduction to HTML, put together by NCSA. As well as being an online reference, it is also a formatted HTML document that can be printed out and used as a desk reference. Links to other informational resources are supplied at the end.

• Yahoo HTML Resource Homepage

  A searchable database of assorted Web topics. You can find information on new HTML specifications, forms, tables, browsers and HTML editors. Includes links to various other Web related hot spots.

Web Design

• Apple Web Design Guide
  This Web site contains information about general human interface principles that you can apply to designing Web pages. It provides some general Web design considerations and links to other Web design resources that Apple has found useful and informative.

• The Webmonkey design page

• Marginalia of Web Design
  Sun Microsystems has created a series of pages that discuss the latest web design issues. They give tips on enhancing a web site.

• The HTML Writers Guild
  The first international organization of World Wide Web page authors and Internet Publishing professionals. Guild members have access to resources including: HTML and Web business mailing lists, information repositories, and interaction with their peers.

 

Graphics Resources:

• World Wide Web and HTML Tools"
  This site contains a long list of HTML editors and scripting tools.

• The Cross Platform Page
  This page lists resources for reading and converting image, video, audio, and data compression/encoding file formats on most common computer systems.

• HTML Color Index On-line
  Since Netscape 1.1 was released, the HTML programmer has been able to control the colors of several items that make up the page. These include the background color, text color, link color, and visited link color. The following are some possible colors that are now available.

  This Web sight has a lot of information about how to keep the graphics in your HTML documents running smoothly.

• Animated Gif Tutorial
  This is a very informative (and interesting) tutorial on how to make animated gifs for Web pages. It tells you step by step how to put them together, and gives advice on file sizes, animation effects, etc.

  An electronic magazine that covers the latest web technology to web design techniques. Articles are geared for the novice to professional.
