Creating a New Presentation

When you first start PowerPoint, the computer will ask you if you wish to create a new presentation, or open an existing presentation.

If you choose to create a new presentation, the computer will give you three options:

In the following example, we chose to create a new presentation using a template. The template will be chosen from this list:

By clicking on one the templates listed, a preview of that template appears at the right side of the dialog box. Once a template has been chosen, the computer will prompt you for an AutoLayout.

The slide is organized into one of many ways. Generally, presentations start with the Title Page, which allows you to enter a title and subtitle for your presentation. Other AutoLayouts can give bulleted lists, tables, charts, organizational charts, graphics, multimedia files, or any combination of these. There are also AutoLayouts which give you a blank screen where you can type just a title or nothing at all.
