The PowerPoint 97 Screen

Like many applications, PowerPoint has a menu bar and a series of toolbars available to carry out common actions, such as text formatting, inserting graphics, and editing. These are the Standard and Formatting Toolbars, respectively:

However, PowerPoint has two other toolbars that most people will use on a regular basis. The first of these is the Common Tasks Toolbar. This is usually floating in its own window.

This toolbar allows you to create a new slide, change the slide layout, or change the background design. The other new toolbar is the Drawing Toolbar.

This toolbar deals in creating and editing graphics in PowerPoint.
