One of the newest (and easily the best) features of PowerPoint 2000 is the Tri-Pane View of presentations. Officially known as Normal View, this setup allows you to see your individual slides, outline, and notes at the same time.

The advantages of the Tri-Pane view are obvious: users now have the ability to work with their presentations in many different ways without having to switch back and forth using the View buttons.
As a result of this, the View buttons have changed somewhat.

The first button of the group activates this Tri-Pane (Normal) View. The Outline View button remains in the second spot. However, it ALSO gives you views of each slide and the notes. (The outline section is larger for emphais.) The third button, Slide View, does the same thing, emphasizing the slide itself. The functions of the Slide Sorter View button and Slide Show button remain unchanged.
