This floating palette controls all of the table attributes (double clicking on
the edge of an existing table is another way of opening this window). Tables being
edited are automatically updated by changing settings in the Object Editor window.
Some of the main attributes of a table are described below.
Table Settings:
- Border: A border dimension can be set for a table, in pixels, and will
appear as a beveled edge around the table.
- Rows and Columns: Any number of columns and rows can be set for a table.
The table is automatically updated as this value is changed. Putting the cursor in
a particular row and clicking the Add/Remove Row buttons will create or subtract
rows directly below it. Click the Add/Remove Col button will create or subtract
columns directly to the right of the cursor.
- Width and Height: Set the total width and height of the table, in percentages
or pixels. Using a percentage will cause the table to resize if the browser window
changes dimensions
- Spacing: This sets the amount of space between table cells.
- Padding: This sets the amount of space around objects in a table cell.
Cell Settings:
- Col Width: Sets the width of a single column. Put the cursor in the cell
column that is to be changed
- Row Height: Sets the height of a single row. Put the cursor in the cell
row that is be changed.
- Col Span/Row Span: This sets the number of columns or rows that an individual
table cell "spans" across. For example, the first cell in this table has
a column span of 3. The last cell in row 1 (column 4) has a row span of 2.
| col 1, row 1 (col span set to 4) |
col 4, row 1 |
| col 1, row 2 |
col 2, row 2 |
col 3, row 2 |
- Alignment: The alignment of objects inside of a cell can be set to Top,
Middle or Bottom (the text "col 4, row 1" is set to align to Top
in the last cell of the table)
