Inserting Images

 
 

Images can be inserted into an HTML document either by clicking on the Insert pull down menu and selecting Image, or by clicking the Image button on the Composition toolbar. There are several image attributes that can be modified when the image is placed on the page.

Place the cursor where you want the image to appear on the page.

Clicking the Image button in the Composition toolbar will open the Image Properties window.

Clicking the button labeled "Choose File" will bring up an open dialogue which allows you to browse your computer for the desired image. All basic options for embedding images in Web pages are controlled here.

If changes need to be made to the image later, after it has already been placed on the page, double-clicking it will evoke the Image Properties window again.

 

Next to the Choose Files button is the Edit Image button. After the image has been set, clicking this button will automatically open it into an image editing application, in case changes need to be made to the image that otherwise cannot be altered using HTML.

Text alignment controls where the text will sit when it is next to the image.  Choose an alignment style based on the example image on the button.

The dimensions of the image can be set, as well as values for the amount of space around the image.  The Original Size button will return the image to it's actual size if the exact numbers are not known.  The Alt.Text/LowRes button allows you to pick a low resolution image that will appear first on the page, until the browser has loaded the real image.
