Objects like images, links and tables can be inserted into an HTML document either by clicking on the Insert pull down menu and selecting which option you want, or by clicking the appropriate button on the Composition toolbar.
Clicking the Image button will open the Image Properties floating palette. At the top of the Image tab, the location of the image to be placed can be set by either typing in the path and name, or clicking the Choose File button.
Text alignment controls where the text will sit when it is next to the image. Choose an alignment style based on the example image on the button.
| The dimensions of the image can be set, as well as values for the amount of space
around the image. The Original Size button will return the image to
it's actual size if the exact numbers are not known. The Alt.Text/LowRes
button allows you to pick a low resolution image that will appear first on the page,
until the browser has loaded the real image. Here is an example of an image with a lowres preview. |
Clicking the Link button will open the Link Properties floating palette. At the top of the Link tab, in the Link source section, the location or file that you want to link to can be set by typing in the path and name (e.g. http://www.uic.edu). Clicking the Choose File button in the Link to section will allow you to link to a relative file on your hard drive.
A target is a particular place on the web page that can be linked to. If a target is created on a web page, and specified in the URL that is the link to that page, the link will lead to the page and automatically be scrolled down to the target area of that page.
Here is how to set a target.
Clicking the Table button will open the Table Properties floating palette. At the top of the Window, the number of rows and columns can be set (rows and columns can be added or subtracted by choosing either Insert --> Table --> Row, Cell, etc; or Edit --> Delete Table -->Row, Cell, etc.)
Table Alignment will control where the table will align on the page.
The table size can be typed in manually by entering numbers in the Table width and Table height boxes.
