Putting Class Materials on the Web

1. Review and select your class materials to put on the Web
2. Determine what needs to be digitized and "HTMLized"
   • What's possible, and how
   • Is it worth it?
   • Is it going to work well?  
   • Think of your target audience (computer and Internet bandwidth)

    

3. Class page organization and Web page design
   • Keep it simple, start small: a syllabus is a good start
   • Look at what others, in your field, have done
   • Consider ITL class home page templates as starting point
   • Consult with the ITL, Arcade or IMP

    

4. Begin to put it all together
   • Develop and test it on your PC or Mac
   • In general, use relative URLs
   • Keep files and subdirectories together

    

5. Upload it on the Web
   • Test it
     • Try different browsers
     • Pretend you are the target audience
   • Seek comments

    

6. Refine it and continue development
7. Maintain it: keep it up-to-date!
