Putting Class Materials on the
Web
- Review and select your
class materials to put on the Web
- Determine what needs to be
digitized and "HTMLized"
- What's possible, and
how
- Is it worth
it?
- Is it going to work
well?
- Think of your target
audience (computer and Internet bandwidth)
- Class page organization and
Web page design
- Keep it simple, start
small: a syllabus is a good start
- Look at what others, in
your field, have done
- Consider ITL class home
page templates as starting point
- Consult with the ITL,
Arcade or IMP
- Begin to put it all
together
- Develop and test it on
your PC or Mac
- In general, use relative
URLs
- Keep files and
subdirectories together
- Upload it on the
Web
- Test it
- Try different
browsers
- Pretend you are the
target audience
- Seek comments
- Refine it and continue
development
- Maintain it: keep it
up-to-date!
- Do you also need a faculty
home page?
