Transferring Files Between Drives

In this example, we wish to drag the Report onto the A: drive. (floppy disk drive on most computers)

This time, if we click-and-drag the file into the A: drive, it COPIES.

Since we are transferring the file from one drive to a different drive, the computer assumes we wish to copy the file. To resolve this situation, we use the same method that is used for copying files on the same drive: right-drag the file into the drive and choose "Move Here" from the shortcut menu. Here's what it should look like.

One other note about moving or copying: you can copy and/or move several files at the same time. If the icons are close to each other, you can click-and-drag a frame around the icons. Any icons touching or inside the frame will be selected. If the icons are not close to each other, you can hold down the [CTRL] key on your keyboard as you select the icons. Here are several icons inside a frame.
