By clicking on the Folder Options button in the lower-right corner, you can choose how folders are displayed on your desktop.
You can customize
it yourself, choose the Classic style of Windows 95, or choose Web style,
which will enable all icons to be treated like hyperlinks. Here is what
icons on the desktop look like in Web style.

It should be noted that now a SINGLE-CLICK activates these icons, not a double-click. As this represents a fundamental change in how Windows 98 works, you may want to practice with this before converting over on a permanent basis. For example, to highlight an icon, you simply point to it. To highlight several icons, hold down the [CTRL] key as you point to those icons. Click here to see a video demo of this.
