Although your ability to find help in Windows 98 remains similar to how you found help in Windows 95, the look is new and new features have been added.

The three tabs at the top left work the same as in Windows 95. The CONTENTS tab gives a series of several books, allowing access to sub-books and help documentation. The INDEX tab lets you type the word(s) that you need help on. The SEARCH tab (formerly known as Find) will take any word or phrase you type in and locate it anywhere in the help documentation.
What's new is the display. Instead of multiple windows opening when you find the documentation you require, the documentation displays on the right pane of the Help window.
You can also see several buttons at the top of the screen.
| The Hide button hides the left pane of the Help window. When the left side is hidden, it becomes a Show button, which would open the pane. | |
| Moves you to the previous pages you have visited during the current Help session. | |
| Moves you forward through documents you have visited during the current Help session. | |

The Options button gives you several options to work in the Help screen, including moving back and forth, hiding tabs, and refreshing the screen. |
| If you are connected to the Internet, the Web Help button connects you with Microsoft's online support. Please note that you must be registered with Microsoft to take advantage of it. |
