Artistic Director, ![]() Dr. Anderson is the Director of Choral and Vocal Studies. He holds the D.M.A. degree from the University of Colorado where he studied conducting and choral literature with Lynn Whitten and Walter Collins, Moravian Music with Karl Kroeger, and the M.MusEd and B.MusEd degrees from Georgia State University where he studied conducting with John Haberlen and music education with Sally Monsour. He began his career as the Director of Choral Music at Tucker High School in Tucker, Georgia. As First Vice-President of the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM), Dr. Anderson coordinates the administration world-wide. He is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of IFCM and sits on the Board of Directors of the International Center for Choral Music in Namur, Belgium. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for the School of Music at Georgia State University. Dr. Anderson has conducted, lectured, and adjudicated choirs across the United States, in Sweden, France, Hong Kong, Israel, China, Japan, Korea, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. In 2007, Dr. Anderson lectured on International Choral Music at the 60th Anniversary of the Japan Choral Association in Tokyo, and in 2008 at the First Annual Forum on Voice, Youth, and Arts Management, in Caen, France. In February 2008, he conducted Mozart’s Requiem in New York's Carnegie Hall with singers from across the nation (including 20 singers from UIC), and prepared The UIC Choirs for four performances with the Elgin Symphony and the Elgin Choral Union. In the summer of 2008, his IFCM work took him to Israel, Hong Kong, and at the World Symposium on Choral Music in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 2009, he met with world leaders at the Europa Cantat festival in Utrecht, Netherlands, and later was part of the inauguration of the Swedish International Center for Choral Music, Örebro (SWICCO), and celebrated the 20th anniversary of the World Youth Choir in Örebro, Sweden. |
