Jane Bagnall

Jane Bagnall received an MFA in costume design from Ohio University in 1998, but actually began her career 23 years earlier with a degree in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, a division of State University of New York in New York City. After graduating from FIT, Jane worked as an assistant designer for a national children's wear manufacturer, before returning to her native Western Michigan.

Jane opened and successfully ran a custom clothing design business in Michigan for several years. Eventually, her lifelong love of theater called her back. She returned to school and completed a BF A in theater from Hope College in 1995. She immediately followed that with the completion for her MFA, and from there moved on to Chicago.

Since coming to Chicago, Jane has worked on shows for Steppenwolf Theater, Court Theater, Navy Pier and Chicago Shakespeare Theater. She has designed shows for Lifeline Theater, Northern Illinois University, College of DuPage, Moraine Valley Junior College, Theater at the Center, European Repertory Theater and Darknight Theatrical Productions, of which Jane is a founding member. Jane has served as resident costume designer for UIC since 1999. In Aug. 2001, she became full time faculty. Now, in addition to designing all 4 main stage shows, she also runs the costume shop and teaches costume construction, costume design and make-up design.
