Coordinator of Undergraduate Theatre Studies, Directing ![]() Anthony Graham-White is Professor and Coordinator of Undergraduate Theatre Studies. He trained as an actor in his native England, then attended Harvard (B.A. 1965) and Stanford (Ph.D. 1969). He taught at Southern Methodist University (1968-76), before coming to UIC as Head of the Department of Communication and Theater. He served as editor of the Educational Theatre Journal (now Theatre Journal). His The Drama of Black Africa (1974) surveys traditional, anglophone, and francophone drama. Punctuation and Its Dramatic Value in Shakespearean Drama (1995) is on the speaking and interpretation of Elizabethan plays. Of his articles, "'Ritual' in Contemporary Theatre and Criticism" has been reprinted in German and Chinese publications. He has contributed to a number of reference works and is an editorial adviser to St. James Press's Contemporary Dramatists, to which he contributes essays on African, British, and Asian American writers. At ITIC he directs and teaches critical and historical courses. Dr. Graham-White's book, Anthology of Drama in the Theatre, was published in 2000 by Kendall/Hunt. |
