Conductor-Jazz Ensemble, Saxophone, Music Theory ![]() Paulus has been a member of the Music Area in the Department of Performing Arts since 1976. He attended the University of Iowa prior to travelling to Chicago with the road band that later evolved into Chaka Khan's back up band, and has subbed with the Jazz Members' Big Band. He completed his bachelors degree at UIC. Paulus teaches introductory theory, and is assistant conductor of the UIC Jazz Ensemble in which he plays fretless electric bass and saxophone. He is a recipient of the Silver Circle Award for Excellence in Teaching. |
