Amy Pickering

Mezzo-soprano Amy Pickering has blended a career of opera, operetta, musical theater, and concert work, and has performed leading roles with such companies as Central City Opera and the Colorado Symphony, Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, Light Opera Works, L’Opera Piccola, Muddy River Opera Company, the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra, and the Toledo Symphony Orchestra.

Roles include Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, the Muse/Nicklausse in Les contes d’Hoffmann, Meg Page in Falstaff, Flora in La Traviata, Princess Rosemarie in the U.S. premiere of Kalman’s Duchess of Chicago, Phoebe in Yeomen of the Guard, Tessa in Gondoliers, the title role in Iolanthe, Claire de Loone in On the Town, Lucy Harris in Jekyll and Hyde, and Molly Grey in Gershwin’s Girl Crazy.

Concert work includes youth concerts with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, soloist in Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C Minor, Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Handel’s Messiah, Ezio, Saul, and Israel in Egypt, as well as supporting roles with the Chicago Symphony and Ravinia Festival Orchestras.

Amy holds a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Music from DePaul University . She is a member of the voice faculty at University of Illinois at Chicago and Elmhurst College .
