Michael J. Anderson

Ms. Terrel teaches Voice for the Actor and Acting. At UIC, she teaches Voice for the BA acting students.  She earned her BA in Performance from San Diego State University and her MFA in Acting from Northern Illinois University .  She has taught Fitzmaurice Voicework for three years and has completed her first of two years training in the Fitzmaurice Voicework Certification VI class.  She draws on a number of training methods and many years exposure to various voice philosophies in her work in the classroom.

Ms. Terrel’s teaching philosophy is that learning should be both enjoyable and structured.  Students learn better, retain more, and are more bravely creative when classes are fun, practical, and grounded in the needs of theatre and the vocal demands made on actors.  Training well-rounded, versatile actors of range and creativity is her passion.

She is an actress and singer who has acted professionally for over twenty years.  New to the Chicago area, she is currently working in the Chicago area in live theatre and film.
