Andes Program at UIC
in partnership with
The Field Museum of Natural History

Inca Mummy Dancers Temple Doorway

The joint Ph.D. program at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Field Museum of Natural History offers a unique concentration of Andean researchers. We have five faculty members who are conducting archaeological research in Peru and Bolivia. This makes us one of the largest concentrations of Andean archaeologists in the United States. Together we cover a wide range of time periods, from the pre-ceramic to the period of European contact, as well as various levels of cultural complexity. We currently have projects on the coast as well as in the highlands. We also offer a range of technical skills including: survey, excavation, remote sensing, GIS, archaeometry, ancient DNA, and archival research.
We are currently accepting students who would like to specialize in Andean Archaeology and Ethnohistory. If you would like to learn more about our Ph.D program visit www.uic.edu/depts/anth/anthprog.html or contact one of us.
