EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS FOR STUDENTS COMPLETING THE UIC GEOGRAPHY GRADUATE PROGRAM

Graduate students are provided substantial preparation and skills in the technical aspects of the discipline and in matters of policy. The graduate is suited to a range of niches in the job sector because the program is responsive to the demands and employment opportunites that are available, and graduates are not subject to the availability of academic positions.

The placement of M.A. graduates depends essentially upon referrals through the faculty's professional contacts, including previous graduates. This network is maintained through the faculty's work in applied geography and through research grants and contracts with public and private agencies and organizations in the metropolitan area.
