Certificate Program in Museum Studies

The Art History Department offers a Certificate in Museum Studies to Art History majors and graduate students. Majors and graduate students must take AH480, The History of Museums and Collecting; AH481, Museum Practices; and AH482, a supervised internship that provides hands-on experience in a working professional environment appropriate to the student's interests. In addition, graduate students are advised to take museum- and exhibition-studies content graduate courses, and to focus thesis or paper options toward this professional interest. For more information, contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Robert Munman munman@uic.edu, or the Director of Graduate Studies, Ellen T. Baird etbaird@uic.edu, or the Chair of Art History, Peter Hales pbhales@uic.edu as appropriate.
