![]() The annual Summer Institute in Digital Media [I-dMedia] at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Architecture convened from August 9 - 20, 2004. Sponsored by the School of Architecture and the College of Architecture and the Arts, I-dMedia brings together faculty from UIC along with national and international visiting scholars, practitioners and students. I-dMedia provides students with the opportunity to work with leading innovators during a 10-day intensive seminar/studio experience in Chicago. I-dMedia is based on an extensive use of digital technologies to address questions regarding the relationship between actual and virtual environments. I-dMedia is project-based with an emphasis on the complex relationships between thinking through emerging forms of electronic fields and current architectural production. During the two weeks of the Institute's intensive study and collaboration, each student works at an individual workstation with animation software (Maya + Softimage), and has access to laser-cut and vacuum-form machines. Experience with digital media is recommended, but not mandatory. Applicants are required to submit a brief letter of intent and portfolio. 2004 Faculty:
