Dr. Jie Liang joined the Department of Bioengineering at the University
of Illinois at Chicago in July, 1999. He received his B.S. from Fudan
University in Shanghai, China in 1986, Ph. D. in Biophysics from the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 1994, and Master in Computer
Science in 1995.
He was an NSF (Computer and Information Science and Engineering Division)
postdoctoral research associate (1994-1996) at the Department of Computer
Science, Univeristy of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and National Center
for Supercomputing and its Applications. He then spent eight months as
a visiting fellow at NSF Institute of Mathematics and Applications at
Minneapolis, and Department of Biochemistry at the University of Minnesota.
From 1997 to 1999, he was an Investigator at the Department of Cheminformatics
at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals in Philadelphia.
