Congratulations to Byron Galbraith, a senior in BioE,
who was recently named one of 6 finalists in the e-gate Open
Worldwide USB smart card developer contest sponsored by axalto.
Byron will travel to San Francisco later in June to present
his concept at the JavaOne conference where he will compete
for top prizes.
Byron's concept, called TrustedPresence,
is a digital identity management and data communications system
based on the XMPP (Jabber) protocols, which supports secure,
enterprise-class presence and messaging services such as Instant
Messaging (IM) and data systems integration. By combining
the concepts of federated identity as specified by the Liberty
Alliance framework and strong authentication as defined by
the Initiative for Open Authentication (OATH) roadmap, TrustedPresence
utilizes e-gate smart card technology to provide an extensive,
highly secure, multi-factor authentication platform ideal
for sensitive corporate and governmental data communications.
