History

The Chancellor's Committee on the Status of Blacks (CCSB) began as an informal constituency composed of students, staff and faculty. It was referred to as the "African American Student, Staff, and Faculty Association". During 1975-1978 the group was organized through the Educational Assistance Program (EAP). EAP was the forerunner to all current academic support programs, i.e. AAAN, LARES, TRIO, ACE, CHANCE, etc. The traditional focus of the committee was to advocate for African American student recruitment and retention. The primary objective was to advise the Chancellor on needed actions to facili¬tate African American success on campus.
