Academic Professional Survey 2010
CCSW Staff Concerns subcommittee (formerly the Academic Professionals Subcommittee) co-sponsored the Academic Professional Survey that is being led by the Academic Professional Advisory Committee (APAC). The AP Status Task Force of the CCSW Staff Concerns subcommittee began exploring the idea of a survey for APs in 2006 and learned that APAC was working on a similar project. The task force considered APAC to be the most appropriate group to spearhead this project. The task force continued to work in collaboration with APAC to develop the survey and support APAC’s efforts to bring the project to fruition. The survey link has been distributed to APs on campus by Survey Research Laboratory on July 15 2010. All of the responses will be kept strictly confidential and reported only in aggregate form. The summarized data can be found at: http://uicapac.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Mentorship Program
In spring 2006, the CCSW subcommittee Staff Concerns (formerly the Academic Professionals subcommittee) task force on mentorship held a mentoring panel workshop. The premise was to ascertain how interested Academic Professionals were in a mentoring program. The consensus was that APs were VERY interested both to be mentored and to be mentors. Since then the CCSW in conjunction with the Academic Professional Advisory Committee (APAC) has worked on developing a mentoring program, finding it a home and finally bringing it to the staff that are most deserving of a mentoring program, those specifically in the Academic Professional community. In Spring 2010, the Academic Professional Mentoring Program (APMP) launched its pilot program and will continue its activities in Fall 2011. If you are interested in becoming a mentor or a protégé, please send an email to apmp_committee@uic.edu or visit the APMP website http://www.uic.edu/depts/oae/APMP/ and complete an application.
