OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to:
- Explain fetal surveillance and fetal monitoring, and their application to the management of fetal conditions
- Describe the fetal and transitional circulation system and relate to neonatal disease states
- Describe principles of pulmonary physiology and the basis of neonatal lung diseases
- Explain principles of neonatal energy requirements and nutrition, and relate to problems of the digestive system
- Explain principles of neonatal renal physiology and apply to the treatment of renal diseases and failure
- Recognize and manage neonatal surgical conditions
- Describe drug metabolism of pharmachokinetics in the newborn
- Describe the pathophysiology and management of neonatal hypoxic ischemia
