  • Describe the fetal and transitional circulation system and relate to neonatal disease states
  • Describe principles of pulmonary physiology and the basis of neonatal lung diseases
  • Explain principles of neonatal energy requirements and nutrition, and relate to problems of the digestive system
  • Explain principles of neonatal renal physiology and apply to the treatment of renal diseases and failure
  • Recognize and manage neonatal surgical conditions
  • Describe drug metabolism of pharmachokinetics in the newborn
  • Describe the pathophysiology and management of neonatal hypoxic ischemia
