Department of Criminal Justice
Professor Rosenbaum is currently studying anti-violence partnerships in ten U.S. cities for the National Institute of Justice. He is also working with the Chicago Police Department to develop and evaluate new forms of web-based information systems derived from enhanced formal communication between the police and neighborhood residents.
Professor Rosebaum has a long-standing interest in the intersection of formal and informal social control mechanisms. His research focuses on the evaluation of community-based or community-focused initatives to prevent violence, drug abuse, and disorder. He has sought to advance the theory and measurement of anti-crime partnerships among law enforcement agencies, social service providers, community organizations, schools, and local residents. His most recent project seeks to document a wide range of community and individual outcomes associated with citizen participation in Web-based public safety initiatives and virtual neighborhood life.
