 The Department of Civil
and Materials Engineering (CME) has instructional facilities in the  Science and Engineering Laboratory (SEL) building adjacent to its offices and
classrooms in the recently constructed Engineering Research Facility (ERF). The department
maintains teaching facilities in the areas fracture mechanics, geotechnical engineering,
materials engineering, and structures and concrete materials. Transportation engineering
and planning instructional activities are performed in the department's Undergraduate and
Graduate Computing Laboratories.
