Dr. Issa has been a professor at UIC for the past 11 years. He has received several awards and nominations for his teaching and supervisory prominence. In 1994, he was honored with the Harold A. Simon Award for excellence in teaching. He was recently honored with the Faculty Research Award by the College of Engineering at UIC. He was twice awarded with the best advisors award, in 1994 and 1996. Dr. Issa has major contributions within the civil engineering infrastructure with respect to applied research. He is a member of several professional organizations and societies. Among his contribution include being chairman of ACI Committee 340, Design Aids for Building Codes. He has published a significant number of refereed papers, proceedings, and reports, and has made a great number of invited lectures and presentations.
