- Jim Danowski's research paper, Measuring Quality in Communication Doctoral Education Using Network Analysis of Faculty-Hiring Patterns, co-authored with George A. Barnett, Thomas Hugh Feeley, & Jordan Stalker was just published in this issue of the Journal of Communication. 5.26.2010

- Dr. Hui-Ching Chang's paper (w/ co-author R. Holt), "Naming China: An Analysis of Taiwan's National Day Speeches," has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Language and Politics. Another paper R. Holt and H.-c. Chang's "A season in Syberia: Gameplay as Activity in Point-and-Click Adventure Video Games" has been awarded Top Panel Paper, by the Game Studies Interest Group, of the International Communication Association, for the Singapore 2010 conference. 4.19.2010

- Will Gartside and Wiliam Aungst's Abu Ghraib paper “Abuse Versus Torture at Abu Ghraib: A Demonstration of Cultural Dissonance Reduction Framing” was accepted at the UIC Peace and War Graduate Student Conference. 4.13.2010
- James Kyong Cho's paper " Online religious community: A discourse analysis of Christian discussion forums," was accepted for presentation at the 7th International Conference on Media, Religion, and Culture in Toronto in August. 4.13.2010
- Jim Danowski, Associate Professor in Communication, will be interviewed by the News@7 Show, airing on HealthyLife.Net daily at 7am PST, on cultural values and the internet. - Adriane Stoner's paper, "The Study Abroad Experience as Portrayed in U.S Print Media: A Quantitative Content and Semantic Network Analysis," was recently accepted to NCA, and both Adriane and Federica Fornaciari's short course "Using a Wiki Platform as a Collaborative Teaching and Learning Tool to Build a Bridge Between Traditional and Online Learning Environments," was also accepted to NCA. 4.8.2010
- Sabrina Pasztor, Ginnifer Mastarone and Elycia Taylor, had their short course on "Bridging Cultures: Maximizing Student Learning Experiences in Multicultural Collegiate Classrooms" accepted to NCA. 4.8.2010
- Jim Danowski has been invited to co-edit Communication and Technology, Volume 5 of the Handbook of Communication Sciences, along with European editor Lorenzo Cantoni. 4.2.2010
- Gonca Noyan's paper "Framing `Islam` and `America` in Competitive Environments: A Comparative Analysis of U.S. President Obama`s and Iranian President Ahmedinejad`s Speeche" was accepted to NCA in the International and Intercultural Communication Division. 4.1.2010
