The 2011 Department of Communication presented the following 5 students with awards during this spring's Awards Ceremony:

- Elycia Taylor, Outstanding Doctoral Candidate, award of membership in NCA
- Marlen Komer, Outstanding Communication Major, award of $300.00
- Peter Muller, Communication Department Distinction for Scholastic Achievement, award of faculty authored book
- Claudia Valencia, ComEd Scholarship, award of $2,000
