Volodymyr Manakin, Visiting Scholar
Research interests in intercultural communication, general and contrastive linguistics, ethnolinguistics, and slavistics. Visiting professor at universities in China, Laos, Hungary, and Poland. Among the grants and awards for his research, his latest book, Contrastive Lexicology (Kiev, 2004), won the Ukrainian National Academy of Science Prize. He understands human language as a suggestive power phenomenon and the part of a noosphere. Current research focuses on basic principles of cross-cultural communication as a branch of science and academic training for students. His current book-in-progress is The War or Peace of Languages and Cultures?
