Author of The Politics of the Artificial: Essays in Design History and Design Studies; The Struggle for Utopia: Rodchenko, Lissitzky, Moholy-Nagy, 1917-1946. Editor of Design Discourse, co-editor of Discovering Design and The Idea of Design. Currently working on a world history of design. UIC University Scholar and Award for Excellence in Teaching, Silver Circle. Visiting professor at University of Technology, Sydney; American University in Beirut, National University of Mexico, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and other institutions. Director of the Museum of Corntemporary Art.
