The Counseling Center at UIC offers a twelve-month internship year that begins in mid-August and continues for a full calendar year. Four full-time, one-year intern positions are planned, with a stipend of at least $24,500 for each position. Each intern has their own office, which includes their own computer, as well as access to clerical and technical support. Interns are entitled to use library, recreational, and computer facilities, and to attend athletic and cultural events on campus. They are afforded twelve days of vacation, in addition to university holidays, two weeks of sick leave, three days of professional development leave, and health insurance coverage. Insurance choices include an HMO and a State PPO Health Plan. In the case of a protracted sick leave or other absence, individual determinations by the Training Committee are made to decide whether the time requirements of the internship have been fulfilled or need to be extended.
