Facilities include a modern orthodontic clinic and clinical laboratory; reception and waiting area; computer, data-processing, and microscopy laboratory; the Brodie Library; orthodontic technique laboratory for photography, appliance construction and plaster work; seminar room; Ricketts Research and Conference Facility; faculty offices; headquarters for ESCO, the Electronic Study Club for Orthodontics; and the Brodie Laboratory for Craniofacial Genetics.

|October 1, 2015 - UIC Orthodontics Kicked off "Straightening out Breast Cancer" Fundraiser to Celebrate Breast Caner Awareness Month|
|Today the Department of Orthodontics kicked off our Breast Cancer Fundraiser "Straightening out Breast Cancer".
Please consider donating to the Orthodontic Department’s fundraiser to “Help Straighten-Out Breast Cancer.” All 27 UIC orthodontic residents have agreed to help raise awareness to a disease that will likely affect us directly (or indirectly) within our lifetime.
When an orthodontic patient requests the color “pink” during the month of October (“Breast Cancer Awareness Month”), that resident will donate one dollar ($1.00) for each patient to a local non-for-profit cancer fundraising group, The H Foundation. 100% of the proceeds to The H Foundation are donated directly to the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. Since 2001, The H Foundation has raised nearly $6.5 million for cancer research.

The Class of 2016 initiated a debate about "digital scans and models versus traditional alginate and plaster" under the advice of Coach Dr. Tony Eltink on April 2, 2015. With one resident act as an internal moderator, the other eight 2nd year orthodontic residents were divided into two teams: Digital Team for digital scans and models, and Alginate Team for traditional alginate and plaster.
The debate covered topics such as cost, practicality, practice promotion, and future trends in orthodontic offices and treatment. After the hot debate, the Digital Team won in a tight race! The results were based on the votes from faculty and residents. Great job, everybody!

|January 26, 2015 - New Construction Undergoing in the Biometrics Lab|
Dramatic changes are happening during these couple of months at the UIC Department of Orthodontics. The biometrics lab in Room 237 is under construction. Old wall cabinets, counter-tops, ceiling tiles and furniture were removed. The whole lab will be divided into several individual offices and work areas, as well as a common conference area for orthodontic faculty and research staff. We look forward to a complete fresh look to the lab.
This renovation project was made possible by gifts from the Orthodontic Alumni Association of Illinois and other private sources for the goal of creating a more comfortable and efficient working environment for the UIC Department of Orthodontics. Our grateful thanks for the continuous support of the Orthodontic Alumni Association of Illinois and our many other friends!
