Internships and Co-op Opportunities
Economics majors are strongly encouraged to explore co-op and internship opportunities. Such opportunities provide valuable work experience which improves employment prospects after graduation, and they often represent a stepping stone towards permanent jobs.
Two offices provide co-op and internship programs for economics majors: the LAS Co-op Office (350 UH, 312-996-0433) and the CBA Career Center (11th floor of UH, 312-996-0433). All economics majors (LAS and CBA) have access to both offices. The criteria for admission to the co-op programs are as follows:
LAS Co-op: Overall GPA >= 2.5 and/or GPA in the major>= 3.0; completion of 45 sem. hrs.
CBA Co-op: Overall GPA >= 2.0 ; completion of at least one semester at UIC; attendance at an orientation seminar (several seminars are scheduled each semester).
