Dedication of the Endodontic Microscopy Center

Dr. Eisenmann, Dr. Broski, Dr. Remeikis and Mr. Garbutt cut the ribbon on our new Endodontic Microscopy Center.

On June 11, 1996, the Endodontics Department realized its dream by officially opening the new Endodontic Microscopy Center. On hand to cut the ribbon for the department's newest showcase were Dr. David Broski, Chancellor of the University of Illinois at Chicago; Dr. Dale Eisenmann, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the UIC College of Dentistry; Dr. Nijole Remeikis, Professor and Head of the Department of Endodontics and Mr. Jerry Garbutt, President of Global Surgical Corporation. Also, over 50 faculty, staff and friends were in attendance from various departments in the college to witness this event. For more information on the new microscope lab, please go to the page on the Endodontic Microscopy Center.

The center was dedicated during the 8th Annual Charles G. Maurice Seminar where Dr. Thom C. Dumsha presented a seminar on "Dental Trauma." Prior to the opening of the lab, our own Dr. Scott Bentkover, Assistant Clinical Professor of Endodontics, gave an introductory lecture on the new Endodontic Microscope Center and the Global M5 microscopes. Dr. Bentkover was primarily responsible for the design and implementation of our new lab.

Dr. Bentkover explains some of the uses of surgical microscopes before the opening of our new center.
