Undergraduate Endodontic Curriculum
The curriculum in dentistry is comprised of eight semesters and two summer sessions of instruction over four calendar years. Instruction is provided through lectures, seminars, conferences, laboratories and clinical practice.
Undergraduate Endodontic Curriculum:
SECOND YEAR
ENDO 321 - PRE-PATIENT CARE IN ENDODONTICS - Biologic and mechanical principles in endodontics, as related to root canal therapy. Technical procedures in root canal therapy on mounted extracted teeth. Orientation toward clinical endodontics. Lecture, lab (Summer/Fall Semesters of the D-2 year)
ENDO 331 - ENDODONTICS CLINICAL LECTURE - The presentation of biological and technical principles underlying sound endodontic therapy including the expected outcomes of this treatment from the standpoint of clinical practice. Lecture; 10clock hours.(Spring Semester of D-2 year)
ENDO-352 - ENDODONTICS CLINIC I - Students begin performing endodontic diagnosis, treatment planning and therapy the Spring Semester of their D-2 year. The course continues through the Summer Semester of their D-3 year in the 6 Group Practices.(Spring Semester of D-2 year; Summer Semester of D-3 year)
THIRD YEAR
ENDO 353 - ENDODONTICS CLINIC II - Etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and injuries of the dental pulp and periapical tissues. The treatment of all forms and aspects of endodontics is carried out on clinic patients in the 6 Group Practices. (Fall/Spring Semesters of D-3 year; Summer Semester D-4 year)
FOURTH YEAR
ENDO 363 - ENDODONTICS CLINIC III - Etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of all forms and aspects of endodontics carried out on clinic patients primarily in off site satellite clinics. (Fall/Spring Semesters of D-4 year)
