Our alumni at Continental Automotive Systems, led by Max Magnelli (BSEE 2002), have arranged for the Safely There exhibit that was a hit at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show to be on campus next Thursday, September 27. We hope that you can announce this to your classes and urge them to check their campus email for details.

The exhibit will be staffed by UIC Engineering alumni. Here is how they advertise it:

This innovative, state-of-the-art display is again rumbling across America to teach consumers about safety technologies that help get you safely there. The powerful, interactive learning experience allows families to explore both current and future safety systems.

The gleaming truck morphs into a gallery of video and surround sound. The centerpiece a remarkable 4D movie and ride experience allows visitors to undergo simulated crashes without Intelligent Vehicle Safety and also avoid collisions with these advanced safety systems. Guests will even take a virtual flight through the human body!

The newly-designed Safely There Tour is truly fascinating. Don’t miss it!

Expect to see the Safely There truck parked in the driveway near the loading docks on the west side of SEL on Thursday.

Our thanks to Michelle Witucki, the Continental HR representative from Dearborn, MI, for assisting with the plans and to the COE's Kate Kaplan for handling the details on campus.

See you on Thursday!
