EVL receives $700K NSF grant to develop
next generation virtual environment

UIC in Princeton Review's Top 50 Undergraduate Game Design Programs

The Next-Generation CAVE will be world's first 2D+3D virtual reality environment built with near seamlessly tiled LCD panels, and provide a resolution matching human visual acuity. The NG-CAVE will support research, education and outreach in a variety of disciplines including: Computer Science, Bioengineering, Medicine, Engineering, High Performance Computing, Rehabilitation Science, and Art.

Andy Johnson (Computer Science) and his co-PIs Jason Leigh (Computer Science),
Tom Peterka (former UIC student now at Argonne) and Maxine Brown (Computer Science) received this NSF grant to develop the Next-Generation CAVE Virtual Environment (NG-CAVE).

The NG-CAVE is funded by NSF through the American Recover and Reinvestment Act.
