Professor Cetinkunt elected Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) |
Professor Sabri Cetinkunt from the
Mechanical and Industrial Engineering department
has been elected a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers
(ASME). This brings the total number of Fellows in the MIE department to
9, and the total number of Fellows of various societies in the College to
41.
Professor Cetinkunt has also been awarded his fourth patent in the energy efficient electro hydraulic control systems area along with his graduate students and colleagues from industry. Most of the concepts described in these patents have been implemented in the current and future generations of construction equipment by a leading manufacturer (Caterpillar). His work has made a significant difference in state of the art hydraulic systems and their applications in the construction equipment industry. He has a very active ongoing research program in electro hydraulic systems that is closely linked with major companies in this area and throughout the world.
More than a dozen recent graduates from Professor Cetinkunt's lab (Mechatronics Lab) have accepted top positions with various construction equipment and hydraulic component manufacturers.
