UIC, College of Engineering Commencement
May 7, 2005
On Saturday, May 7th, more than 400 graduates (B.S.. M.S. MENG, and Ph.D) from 6 departments participated in the 2005 Commencement Ceremonies at the UIC Pavilion from 2-4:30PM.
Invited guests were Chancellor Sylvia Manning, Provost R. Michael Tanner, Dean of Graduate College Clark Hulse, Keynote Speaker John Major, and Engineering Alumni Association President Jasmine Farshi. Trustee Niranjan Shah was scheduled to attendbut a last minute schedule conflict prevented his attendance.
Faculty awards for excellence in teaching included UIC Silver Circle Award (Robert Becker, ECE) and COE Harold A. Simon Award (Patrick Troy, CS). Bell Honor Awards for highest grade point average in the graduating class for summer 2004, fall 2004 and spring 2005 were also given. The student address for the class of 2005 was delivered by Hilary Mottl.
From the College of Engineering, Dean Prith Banerjee and Associate Dean Krishna Gupta conducted the ceremonies.
