This year the College is planning a first-ever event designed to enhance leadership skills and promote team building amongst the undergraduate engineering student organizations and societies. The "Passport to Leadership" is a day-long leadership retreat to be held on Saturday, September 17, 2005 from 10:00am-3:15pm on the University of Illinois at Chicago campus.
We are currently seeking volunteers to lead sessions during the retreat in the following topic areas:
Organizational Development
- Means for Communication
- Motivating and Reviving membership
- Team Building
Organizational Roles
- Workshops intended to develop skill sets for specific executive board positions, including President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, webmaster, etc.
- Topics to be covered may include delegation of authority, financial management, fundraising, quality meetings, effective minute taking, website maintenance, networking, etc.
Leadership
- Qualities of leaders
- Leadership methodologies
- Learning from leadership history
Academic and Career Development
- Balancing academic and organizational responsibilities
- From backpack to briefcase
- Networking.
Sessions are one hour in length. Presenters are free to determine the format of the session. Suggested formats for the session are presentation, open discussion, interactive, or panel discussion.
