Laxman Saggere, Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, has received word from the National Science Foundation that he has been selected to receive an NSF CAREER Award for 2005. His project is entitled, "A Biomimetic Microsystems Technology towards a Novel Retinal Prosthesis." He will receive $400,000 for five years beginning March 1, 2005.
The NSF CAREER award is one of the most prestigious awards that a young faculty member can receive. This brings the total number of NSF Career award winners in the College of Engineering to 21, and in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering to three.
